"Every Great Story has a Better Beginning"
Yorn grew up as an only child in the frozen underbelly of Foundation known as the Brume. Parents lost to him from the wrath of the Wyvern Horde, Yorn did what was absolutely necessary to survive, even if it was morally unappeasing. Lying, stealing, Yorn put his survival at the utmost even if late at night, he would always look upon himself in disgust for what he had done. Yorn would often look upon the noble folk that would roam about, laughing without a care and going about their buisness, all the while treating those in the Brume as mere folk that squandered any chances of a better life; that mindset had left him as bitter as the frigid snow of Ishgard. He would spend his days in Saint Reymanaud's Cathredral, confessing his Sins to the Goddess Halone and establishing a growing bond with Bishop Outreguerlain, who has seen Yorn's struggles since his youth and has been the mentor he needed to keep him on the right Path.It wasn’t until one day that he was discovered by one of the Knights of the High House of Durendaire. Yorn was tempted to snatch upon a Gil that had fallen out of the pockets of a Nobleman that was being escorted by the Knights. When attempting to pick up the Gil, he was immediately seized upon by one of the Knights, proposing to execute him discreetly as to be rid of "One more piece of filth that would ever sully their touch upon a Lord's Coin". The Nobleman, yielded, however, demanding that the Knight set him down. Hesitating at first, the Knight did as he was commanded, and the Nobleman kneeled towards Yorn, brushing off his hair as he gave a smile. The Nobleman, looking him in the eye, introduced himself as none other than Count Charlemend de Durendaire, the de facto Lord of House Durendaire. Admiring while also reprimanding him, Count Durendaire made a proposal for Yorn: To serve under his House in comfort, or to suffer punishment for theft.Since then, Yorn has served as a steward in House Durendaire for the most part of his youth, honing his skills in combat and receiving a quality education that was offered to him through the Scholasticate of the Holy See of Ishgard. Through his service and dedication in the High House of Durendaire, Yorn has become quite adept in the ways of Literature and Mathematics while at the same time honing his skills as a Strategist, leaning more towards cunning and indirect tactics in order to win battles. One of Yorn's greatest passions is studying the Arcane Arts, especially regarding the Astral and Umbral Arts of spellcasting. Yorn dedicated his studies into researching more into such Arts, often times deep into his reading while roaming about the Estate. When it became time for Yorn to journey to obtain more training, he was offered to attend Astrologian training, but declined. Instead, he pleaded with his Lord to send him on to Ul’Dah to hone his skills in becoming a Black Mage instead, wanting to wield such destructive magic in the hopes of aiding his allies.During his tenure as a Thaumaturge in Ul'Dah, Yorn studied directly under his teacher, Cocobuki, who tried to mentor Yorn into the proper techniques in becoming a Black Mage. One day, however, Yorn had not heeded the advice that Cocobuki implored him to listen upon and caused an abnormal effect to occur, affecting his eyes and his hair whilst becoming unconscious. After some time recovering, thanks to the Clerics that were on-site, Yorn wanted to continue his training, not letting what had happen to deter him from accomplishing his dreams. Soon enough, after many months of rigorous training, Yorn had graduated under Cocobuki's training to become a full fledged Black Mage. Using his newfound talents with his strategic mind, Yorn had honed his skills enough to become an invaluable member in parties that he joins up; noting that when in Combat, he's ever ruthless with his sharp mind and destructive potential. There was one tragedy that had occurred to him, one that left him a forever mark that would haunt him for his days onwards. Yorn only ever confided about the event to a select few in his life, and only to those that he finds trusting enough to ever bear such a secret. Eventually Yorn broke away from House Durendaire, telling Count de Durendaire that "There is nothing more for me here, for all that I loved, all that I once held dear is gone from me.". He detested this at first, but begrudgingly understood why, given all that they've been through together. Yorn thanked Lord Durendaire, for all that he had given him, for giving him a second chance at life and hopes that in his Travels will he find himself far more in Eorzea than he ever did in Ishgard. When asked if Yorn will ever return to his home, Yorn could only say, "Fate..it can be a very strange thing sometimes. For when we walk upon our own paths, do we often wonder what would be best? Does it hurt? Or do we somehow come back to the beginning? I believe that, in time, I will return.".Carrying what he could pack, he mounted on his Chocobo, Zassel and started his journey across Eorzea. Witnessing the many splendors the world had to offer, Yorn slowly began to realize that what he was missing out on was somewhere out there, waiting for him to make the first move. With a smile upon his face and a purpose in his heart, Yorn wandered about as a Traveler with no home to call for himself, leaving behind his checkered past to start a life anew.
During the Events of Shadowbringers...
Years have came and went since Yorn's departure from Ishgard, and along the way has encountered many things that he became both enamored and in mourning all the same. His life, changed forever through circumstances he wished hadn't lingered in his mind, but knows and accepts it's part of who he is in the end. With his traveling nearing it's end, Yorn wanted to seek upon new purpose with life anew once more in his heart and recalled upon a time where he became enamored with music. Through the help of an old friend, Yorn soon found himself employed in the care of the Owner of a Tavern known as "The Inkwell." Rather shy about it at first, Yorn soon took a shine to the stage, and dedicated himself in his craft as one of the most renowned Bards, spreading his love of music to venues across Eorzea, garnering the affection of those who resonate that with him as fans who he holds near and dear to his heart.Along the way, Yorn had eventually made his return back home to Ishgard, serving as Noble to House Durendaire as he spent time either delegating with other House Lords or mending relations between both the Upper and Working Classes by means of the restoration of the Firmament. In his heart, Yorn still held a smidge of resentment for his treatment in Ishgard, but if change can come for all whom were against such ideals, he can put his past aside, for the betterment of his People. It was then that for his acclaim to Nobility and becoming a more public figure due to his interactions with Ishgardians and accounts of his Adventures, Yorn soon attained the title as Ishgard's "Shield"; sworn to be it's new Guardian, much to his initial hesitation. While he won't ever wear such a title on his sleeve, Yorn understands now that the people need someone to look up to, and while it goes against him being a Hero, just this once...he will for Ishgard.Soon, the time came for Yorn to venture into the fray once more, new challanges and a bigger goal with more at stake than he had ever faced before. Much of his training, much of his time venturing to far off lands had lead up to this. Aiding the Scions of the Seventh Dawn for the better part of his life lately, Yorn found himself in what will be the biggest fight of his life, with the very fate of his Star on the line. However, with stoic resolve and a calm demeanor, Yorn will march on towards that fight, wherever it may lead, for it means the world can see another 'morrow, he will gladly give what strength he can for that dream to be a reality.

Yorn took upon the mantle of joining the Brotherhood of the Dark Knights of Ishgard. His unique attributes and dark past made him a prime candidate in controlling and honing his Esteem. What he hadn't known was that the Esteem that channeled through him manifested into the Darker Side of his Id, and as such initially wanted control of Yorn's mortal form. After struggling control for so long, the two contested with one another, having Yorn become the victor. Acknowledging him as the superior, his Darker Id recessed back into his mind, being at his beck and call should Yorn will it to be.
Paladin

Ever since Yorn was given the Title, "Shield of Ishgard", he felt it was best to live up to that title in the most literal sense possible. Taking a depature from Ishgard for a while, he ventured back to Ul'Dah to attend the Gladiator's Guild in the hopes to train himself in becoming a Paladin. Through much grit and determination, Yorn found the resolve needed to wield the distinct Sword and Shield and returned back to Ishgard, smile on his face and purpose anew as the living Shield it needed.

Yorn took upon himself to take into Mercenary work while venturing into the Bozjan Southern Fronts at the time they had requested aid from any whom would be able to lend a hand. Along the way, he encountered upon Bozjans who wielded peculiar weapons: Swords that can also shoot ammunition of some kind. He recalled upon a similar weapon that Thancred had as well and wanted to inquire further into it. Perplexed and intrigued at the same time, Yorn found himself training in the hopes of becoming a Fabled Gunbreaker. Overtime, he managed to master the skills that such a Gunbreaker would need, using said skills with his Mercenary work along the Bozjan Front and beyond so long as his blade is needed.
Black Mage

Ever since his time in the service of House Durendaire, Yorn wanted nothing more than to master the powers of the Astral and Umbral. Through the acknowledgement of Lord Charlemend, Yorn spent a portion of his early life training in the art of Thaumaturgy, soon mastering the Art and receiving the coveted Black Mage Job Stone. While even becoming a Master, Yorn's journey of knowledge in all things Magic never ends; realizing that Mastery means nothing if you cannot allow yourself the means to educate more behind the feet of Old Masters. Given his unique properties, his potent Magic attacks stems from the Aether he harbors and as such can channel them for more destructive spells, though it's with great sparcity due to the level of energy it consumes from him.

While he didn't quite want to accept the Job, Yorn understood that to be a more well-rounded combatant, he needed to understand the powers of healing and the responsibilites that came with it. Through training at the Astrologian's Guild, Yorn immediately found himself drawn to the aspect of his cards, attuning his energies to draw upon the perfect card for the perfect situation. Is it always accurate? No, but that doesn't mean he can't make the most of it

Through his love of music came for a love of the Bow as well. Yorn wanted to understand what it meant to be a Bard beyond just strumming along an instrument alone. Through the Shroud and training with the Archer's Guild, Yorn took it upon himself in his early years since departing Ishgard to hone his Archery skills. Years of training made him a Master Bard with near unrivaled accuracy with where his arrows travel to. Nowadays, Yorn still utilizes the bow quite a bit, but more for Marksmanship so he won't lose his edge.

Yorn recently found himself in training to become an initially hidden sect known as Reapers. Through his initial bondings with the Soul who's Aether melded with his in Yorn's early years, that Soul became what is considered to be Yorn's Avatar. Through that training, Yorn and his Avatar found themselves working with cohesion together, a unit of two to become one when Yorn gives himself to the Avatar for power in brief amounts of time. It is with Yorn's hope as a Reaper that he may be able to help those who's loved one's may have returned as Voidsent or to banish wayward Voidsent back to the Hells below once more
Who Am I Exactly?
Well where do I even start? I suppose I can do it this way:
I am 21+ and am a dude
I have been part of the FFXIV for about 3 years but have been an avid RP'er for well over 10 years.
When I'm not busy trying to create more story stuff for either Yorn or my Miqo, I may be working on music. It's been a passion of mine for well over a decade with Proficiency in Piano and Guitar being my strong suits.
I can be a pretty easy-going kinda guy, wanting nothing more than to cheer you up the best that I can
I can also be a bit of a Forget-me-not sometimes, and with those who I RP with now or in the future, please know I am interested in RP, I'm only human ;w;
My availability with being on XIV stems towards mostly evenings on Weekdays (with certain circumstances in the day) and Weekends.
If, for any reason, you wanna reach out to me, please do. I swears I'm not scary to talk to or anything and am always up to meet new friends!
This goes without saying, but of course I still need to mention it: When RP'ing, understand that Yorn is a Character I created and does not mean I act through him for the purpose of attachment through IRL and RP. It's strictly for RP and RP alone and if that can't be respected, I hope we can accord in the near future.
